This year, several young ladies from the Our Lady of Pillar, Guadalajara, youth group hosted a posada for moms and their children at El Refugio, a shelter named after Our Lady of Refuge and built for adolescent mothers.
Spotlight: Cordis Jesu Youth Choir of FSSP Mexico
The Cordis Jesu Youth Choir of FSSP Mexico performed two concerts during September. The first concert was conducted in Guadalajara in the Carmelite Church of Santa Teresa de Vila. Fray Octavio Michel Corona, a Mexican Franciscan friar born in 1928, composed all of the choir’s performed pieces.
OLGS Seminarians attend SJS Spanish Institute
The San Junipero Serra Spanish Institute, the FSSP's Spanish immersion program for priests and seminarians, welcomed six seminarians in Guadalajara, Mexico, this summer. The seminarians spent six weeks learning the Spanish language, history, and culture of Mexico, as well as assisting the choir at Our Lady of the Pillar parish.

Daniel Heenan, FSSP, who was ordained in 2014, has spent his entire priesthood working at the FSSP apostolate in Guadalajara, Mexico. Mission Tradition staff recently spoke with Fr. FSSP Mexico holds first Church Bazaar!
Nuestra Seora del Pilar (Our Lady of the Pillar) hosted the first church bazaar and fundraiser (Kermesse) on Sunday, August 7th.
Vocational Retreat Held at FSSP Mexico
On August 7, the men’s vocational retreat commenced. Eighteen young men from all over the country came to participate in five days of silence & prayer beginning with the parish 12:30 High Mass on Sunday afternoon.

I am Father Kenneth Fryar. I am a member of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter. I have been assigned to Mexico since 2009 in Guadalajara. In 2014 I was assigned to Mexico City where the Cardinal has given us use of the Chapel of the Parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, but the difficulty we face is where to live.
